We all know the rhyme. “Good night, sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite. But if they do, take your shoe and hit them ‘til they’re black and blue.” Fact of the matter is, hitting bed bugs with your shoe may kill one or two, but there are dozens if not hundreds more hiding from view. An effective bed bug service must be done by a professional and done quickly as these nasty pests reproduce quickly. A female bed bug can lay eggs daily and will lay over 200 eggs in her short lifetime. A bed bug typically only lives about four to six months, but laying that many eggs will lead to a very big problem in a short period of time.

Bed Bugs can be anywhere
There is a common misconception that only “dirty” people get bed bugs. The truth is, bed bugs can be found anywhere, from the fanciest hotel to your local movie theater. If it’s a spot where people hang out, bed bugs are likely there too. Another common misconception is that bed bugs only hang out in our beds. While that is a typical place for them to hang out, bed bugs like any spot with tiny crevices for them to hide, such as couch cushions or along baseboards. They will also hide along the seam of mattresses. They are drawn out to us while we sleep due to the carbon monoxide we exhale as we breathe.
According to Live Science, bed bugs are drawn to darker colors and seem to dislike yellows and greens. They don’t recommend changing the color of your sheets however. That may be taking things a bit too far. Just give us a call. Prior to our arrival, we ask for all bedding to be removed from all furniture that will be treated.

These tiny pests are about the size of an apple seed and can live without feeding for months. They are heavy travelers and can sneak into your home by catching a ride in your luggage, purse, or even clothing. Many people don’t see the bug itself, but will find bite marks on their skin or the bedbug droppings. The CDC reports that bed bugs are not known to spread disease. However, you could have an allergic reaction to a bite. Bites can also be itchy, and of course having any pest in your home is annoying and can lead to stress.
avoid the bed bugs blues
If you suspect you have bed bugs in your home, it is important to call us immediately for a bed bug service. Bed bugs can live in hot and cold weather, meaning we see them in Colorado year round.
“We found a live bed bug in our apartment late on a Sunday night, and I called Complete Pest Control at noon the next day. They got someone out to our apartment to do the first treatment within about 3 hours of my call – and it’s their busy season!
We’ve only found dead bed bugs since they started treating, and they haven’t at all tried to up-sell us on additional treatments. They’ve been extremely helpful with all of our questions, professional to work with, and easy to contact. 5 stars earned.”
